I love to mix up colors and themes every year. I did, though decide to not go crazy this year purchasing new ornaments and limited myself to only purchasing some new ones to incorporate with the ones I already have only if I got them on the cheap!

With discout decor on my mind, I also didn’t want to make the tree look that way by any means. Well, I think I succeeded in giving our tree a lovely look on a budget.

A good portion of the ornaments I had in my stash already… and I’ll let you in on my little Christmas stash secret – I always purchase the bulk of my ornaments and decor during end of season sales for the following year, that way I have a great variety at a portion of the cost. I try to pre-plan what theme and colors I’m going to do the next year so I can grab what I might need if I don’t already have them in my storage. So with this, I’ll point out what I’ve found to incorporate this year while keeping a thrifty budget in mind.

From the Dollar Tree: the white owls, large white jingle bells, and the cardboard acorn ornaments. I also purchased all of the wrapping paper there! This reversible tree skirt with faux fur trim was a great find from Savers for only $3.50!

I found the sweater-knit trees at Walmart for under $2… Maybe even under $1 if my memory serves me correctly.

The copper starbursts I purchased at 60% off at Michaels making them around $1.60 each. I bought a large spool of the blue wired ribbon from Sam’s Club for under $7. I also hand-made some of the wooden ornaments from craft supplies I purchased with a coupon at Michaels.

I hope what I’ve shared shows you that it’s not necessary to spend a fortune to have a jolly and festive set-up in your home, and you can find some great holiday decor and make cheap look chic!
