Apps for Little Loves

You may have apprehensions to handing over your life net a.k.a. “smart phone” to your 18 month old… But, if you’re in the same boat as me and you have a mile long list of groceries to plunge through, 3 loads of laundry a day, a 6 yr old a 4 yr old to Homeschool and all Quiet Play and Busy Bag items are scattered across your living room floor, you’ll cave… So here are my picks for apps for 18 mo + kiddos.

FisherPrice

Fisher Price has some GREAT Apps and most of them are FREE !!! This is one of my faves: B&W High Contrast Apptivity

Grandpaworkshop

Grandpa’s Workshop:  This silly dancing Grandpa and his wacky tools needs help in the workshop! Kids help identifying tools, measuring, cutting wood, spotting differences, painting furniture, repairing broken items, and even building a clubhouse. This app is loaded with educational content (number groups, measuring, fractions, colors, observation, spatial relationships), but even my little one loves it and laughs EVERY time he does his funny dance or asks her for a high-five.

lioninmybackyard

Peekaboo Animals: There’s A Lion in My Backyard! This is by FAR my go-to for my 18 month old. The little boy asks you to search for the animals so he can collect them in his yard. She spends the longest time searching for animals and imitating the sounds. It’s cute and if she picks the wrong animal it just keeps going until she gets it correct.

peekaboobarn

Peekaboo Barn by Night & Day Studios, Inc. Is one of the first Apps I ever purchased. We had the Lite version for a while when it first came out, but liked it so much I bought the Full version. The kiddos can “knock” (tap) on the barn door to see what animal is hiding inside. Cute animal sounds and names each animal. Try out the Lite and give it a test drive! talkingABC

I just had to buy the Full version because even my 4 yr old and 6 yr old ADORE this App! Talking ABC by Jutiful is SUPER cute – clay art animals go through the entire alphabet and the letters transform from the Letter to the animal it represents. There are games and songs, it’s just great! Totally worth the purchase. This too has a Lite version you can check out before purchasing.

YoGabbaGabba

Yo Gabba Gabba! Let’s Glow Dancing by DHX Media. We’ve loved Yo Gabs ever since it first came out with my firstborn, so we always check out what other things they have out. This is a fun simple game that gets everyone moving and groovin’
